Plasma Canvas No Faces

Plasma Canvas is a two piece trans-femme punk band from Northern Colorado. Their sophomore album No Faces is 21 minutes of in your face guitar riffs, blasting drums, and a passionate vocal performance with lyrics regarding femininity, transgender struggles, and fighting for equality and inclusion. With such a strong sense of strength and security in being who you are no matter who opposes, the album needed art just as loud and clear as the message of the record.

Elements such as the lips and words written in lipstick convey a strong presence of femme power, while the switchblade and dark colors allude to an ongoing threat or fight or any over arching struggle.

I wanted the album art to easily communicate what it was about and give the listener a sense of power and strength no matter what they’re up against.

Stencil type and collage style lay out speak to the “Do It Yourself” punk mindset.

A gatefold design creates a sense of quality and weight that a normal sleeve would lack.

The inside sleeve would have a “kiss” diecut and a pink colored vinyl to create an image of a lipstick imprint, with clear plastic holding it together and protecting the vinyl.
